Lorax vs. Truax

Again, one of those "really?" moments popped up in school. If you've ever read and cherished The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, then get ready to face it's semi-evil-just-as-propaganda-spreading "Truax". Written by Terri Birkett and funded by logging and wood flooring companies in America, Truax is aimed at kids by imitating Dr. Seuss. Ok, that alone isn't cool. Then, on top of it, it is supposed to make kids feel more optimistic about the future of trees because of improved forest management. Yeah, written by logging companies. So, let's just cut down all the trees we want and there'll be no consequences because we plant five seeds for each one we cut! Yeah, ok. It takes a lifetime to grow a tree, so it is renewable, but....even the rhyme scheme isn't as clever, and is kind of off the whole time.

After reading The Lorax, where everything pretty much dies, glops, or leaves town, Truax does have a good point ("Things aren't quite as bad as they seem! :) !!!! :D). At least the Lorax and his fellow characters were cute. And, the plot itself was geared toward children SOO much better (like only Dr. Seuss can do).

But, come on Truax, imitating Dr. Seuss? And replacing the cute 'lil Lorax with some weird tree dude wearing broccoli on his head ("Guardbark") is just stupid. "Huh, I wonder what character Guardbark relates to in The Lorax?". Whatever. Truax...what a waste of my time (and now, yours).

At least we got to watch The Lorax video twice because the sub honestly had no idea when we were all like, "Um, yeah...We haven't seen it before...". So much for being a retired teacher. AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE win.

Which is cuter? Honestly?

(Now, if this were a contest of "would you rather"...?)

My personal favorites, the Swomee Swans! They beat out everything else mentioned in this post, including the post itself. If that even makes sense.
